LAHORE, Jan 6: Pakistan will take part in the World Cup polo qualifying round to be held in New Zealand next month. President Lahore Polo Club, Abdul Qadir Khan Mamdoot, told a press conference on Saturday.

He pointed out that being the country's top polo club, various players from LPC would represent the country in the qualifiers.

He further added that the LPC would hold 35 tournaments in this season of which 11 have already been played and the remaining would be organized by the end of the season in May.

He stated that one of the main tournaments, Warid Telecom, was starting from Monday in which various players from India and Argentina would be representing different teams.

He said the club was also running a riding school to promote the game and impart equestrian training to the beginners and the children and it was also acting as a nursery for polo.

Presently about 250 students including boys and girls were being trained for the game at the school, he said.
