PESHAWAR Jan, 5: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has asked its consumers to help counter power theft, enabling it to provide smooth power supply. In a press release issued here on Friday, a spokesman for the Pesco said that the current wave of severe cold has resulted in a surge in the use of electricity, resulting in over-loading of Pesco’s distribution during peak hours.
“The main cause of problems in power supply was sudden increase in electricity demand, mainly pushed by excessive electricity consumption, mostly by people resorting to power theft,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the power utility was making efforts on its own, but also requested its consumers to keep a strict watch on people involved in power theft.
SCHOOLS IN GALYAT: Work on construction of new buildings for over 12 primary schools in remote areas of Galyat, including Pamseri, Ramkot and Tajwal, has been started while summary for approval of 11 more primary schools has been sent for consideration.
Work on educational schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) in remote hilly but scenic areas of Galyat in Abbottabad district has been expedited wherein many of them are either completed or at various stages of completion, said a handout issued here on Friday.
It included up-gradation of new buildings and appointment of teaching and administrative staff of various boys, girls’ primary, middle and high schools.
The Abbottabad district head of the education department informed the NWFP Minister for Local Govt and Rural Development, Sardar Mohammad Idrees, during a meeting here at his office on Friday.
EDO (Education) Syed Bashir Hussain Shah and ADO (P&D) Sardar Mohammad Nawaz informed the minister that the process of construction, repair and appointment of the staff in educational institutions in Galyat areas of PF-48 had been accelerated following the minister's directives.
Academic sessions have been started after the construction of new buildings of the Girls Higher Secondary School in Lora, Girls High School in Beran Gali, girls middle schools in Dhana, Tupla, Kasala and Chanali and the teaching staff appointed there while the deficiency of Class-IV employees would be removed shortly, officials informed.
Similarly construction of Boys Higher Secondary School in Tajwal, Girls Higher Secondary School in Sumeri Raiki, girls high schools in Keri Raiki, Tauheedabad, Nagri Totyal, Kotwal, Boys Middle School in Majoot Baniani, girls middle schools in Tatrela and Bat Nara were in different stages of completion and PC-4 for the approval of staff had also been submitted in this regard.
The minister directed officials to speed up the up-gradation and construction work of the schools.
