KARACHI, Jan 5: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has sought comprehensive reports from all District Coordination Officers of the province regarding installation of water purification plants in their respective districts.

He also directed them to mention in the reports whether such a plant falling in their respective jurisdiction was functional or non-functional.

He asked the DCOs to extend cooperation to the relevant organisations in selecting a site if a water purification plant was planned to be installed.

In this regard, the additional chief secretary, local government, was directed to personally monitor the scheme and come out with a report thereof at the next month’s meeting of secretaries.

Meanwhile, the chief secretary has appreciated the reforms introduced by Archives Department, and impressed upon all secretaries and DCOs to follow the example.

He asked the DCOs and Agriculture secretary to take steps for ensuring availability of fertilizer and check black-marketing of the commodity within their respective jurisdictions.

While referring to the recently-held meeting of DCOs and secretaries, he expressed concern over rising prices of consumer items, hoarding and sale of substandard goods in the province. He told DCOs to check artificial price-hike and sale of substandard goods.—APP
