CHAKWAL, Jan 3: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan has said that dialogue between the Pakistan People’s Party and the government has entered a decisive stage.

He said that PPP leader Benazir Bhutto had agreed to get elected General Pervez Musharraf in uniform from the current assemblies for the next term.

Talking to newsmen on telephone at the Chakwal press club on Wednesday, he said that a strong group of the PML-Q was apposing the PPP-government deal.

The minister said that the deal between the PPP and the government was in the interest of the country because democracy would be strengthened and enlightened political forces would emerge victorious by a two-thirds majority in the coming election that would be held in early 2008.

He said that the deal would isolate the MMA.

The minister said that Benazir Bhutto would not return back to the country before the next elections.

Replying to a question, the minister said that the Senate session would be held on January 15, and a meeting of the National Assembly would be called on February 6.

He said that the bill submitted by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain regarding women rights would be presented in the session and it was likely to be approved.

The minister said that Vani, forcible marriages, avoiding daughter’s inheritance and marriage to Quran would be criminal acts.—PPI
