QUETTA, Dec 31: Two security personnel were seriously injured when armed men opened fire at a vehicle of Makran Scouts near Mand on Sunday while two electricity pylons were blown up, suspending power supply to Dera Bugti.

According to official sources, a pick-up carrying personnel of Makran Scouts was on its way to Turbat from Mand, a border town between Pakistan and Iran. When the pick-up crossed Mand, armed men opened fire at it. Security personnel immediately took positions and returned fire.

The exchange of fire continued for some time during which two of the security personnel received bullet injuries, said the sources, adding the injured were rushed to Turbat for treatment.

After the incident, the Makran Scouts cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation. However, there was no arrest.—Staff Correspondent
