MUZAFFARABAD, Dec 28: An adviser to the Azad Kashmir prime minister has accused the AJK president’s secretariat of victimising Muslim Conference workers in Bhimber district.

“Party workers are suffering in Bhimber while their tormentors enjoy the blessings of the president’s secretariat,” said Tariq Farooq, adviser on elementary education, on Thursday.

Mr Farooq, minister for works in the previous Muslim Conference government, lost the July 11 general election to opposition People’s Muslim League candidate Chaudhry Anwaarul Haq. Mr Haq enjoyed the support of Muslim Conference leader Raja Zulqarnain Khan, who the ruling party later elected as AJK president.

However, a woman legislator and the three flag holders from Bhimber, including Mr Farooq and two ministers, did not attend the oath-taking ceremony as a mark of protest against Mr Khan’s pre-election policies.
