Forgetting the unforgettable

SARGODHA, Dec 26: How much we have in our memory the founding fathers of the nation can be judged by the fact that neither any government department nor any political party bothered to observe the birth anniversary of the Quaid-i-Azam.

Events were arranged in many parts of the province to pay tribute to the father of the nation, but the district administration remained in slumber as did the otherwise very active political outfits. There wasn’t much efforts from the non-government organisations either.

The only function that was arranged to pay tribute to the Quaid-i-Azam was the initiative of Dr Haroonur Rasheed Tabbasum, a known literary figure.

Mufti Muhammad Tufail Goindi, a veteran Muslim Leaguer, told Dawn that the country was going through tumult as it was being ruled by the people against the founding fathers.

DIES: Eminent poet and educationist Prof Ghulam Jeelani Asghar expired after protracted illness on Tuesday morning.

He remained the principal of the Government College Sargodha for several years and wrote various books. Quran Khwani will be held at his residence on Club Road on Friday at 2pm.
