Two shot dead in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Dec 26: Four persons were killed and two injured in separate incidents in the twin cities during last two days, police said. A 22-year-old boy was shot dead by an unidentified gunman outside his house in People’s Colony on Monday night.

Javaid Iqbal Saddiqui, an assistant line man in Wapda, told the RA Bazaar police that a street boy informed him on Monday night that his son Zeeshan Hamid had been shot.

He rushed out of the house and found his son lying injured in the street. The victim died while being shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

Police said a pistol, believed to be the murder weapon, had been seized from the crime scene. Investigation has been launched into the incident.

A man was killed and his two brothers were injured after a being hit by a truck in the jurisdiction of RA Bazaar Police on Monday.

Police said Attiqueur Rehman was going home along with his two brothers on his motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them near Jamia Masjid on RA Bazaar road. The injured persons were shifted to the DHQ Hospital where Attique died. The truck driver escaped from the scene.

In another incident, a man, Nazeer Hussain, was shot dead and his two daughters Rahila and Shakeela were injured after their rival Mehrban allegedly attacked them in their house in the jurisdiction of Jatli Police Station on Tuesday. Police said the motive behind the murder was a property dispute.

Meanwhile, six vehicles were stolen from different parts of the city during last two days, the police said. Mohammad Taqi’s car was stolen from Satellite Town, while Munir Malik’s car was taken away from the New Town police area. Tanveer Ahmed lodged a similar complaint of car theft with the Cantonment police.

Ashgar Ali and Shahzan Hussain’s motorbikes were stolen from Ganjmandi, while Majid’s motorbike was taken away from Saddar.

Our staff reporter from Islamabad adds: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle on Tuesday, police said.

Arshad Mehmood, 36, a resident of Chistianabad near Golra Moor, suffered multiple injuries when a truck (LWN-3779) hit him while he was crossing a road at Jhangi Sayidan.
