D.I. Khan shooting victims buried

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 26: The situation in the city remained peaceful on Monday as the funeral was held of the four people shot dead in a graveyard on Sunday. Four men had shot dead the four victims and injured six others during the funeral of Prof Nazakat Ali Imrani at the Hafiz Khair Mohammad graveyard on Sunday.

Of the deceased, Shahjehan, Amin Jan alias Naeem and Doctor Kamran were buried in Hafiz Khair Mohammad graveyard, while Amanullah’s funeral took place in Kotli Imam Hussain graveyard.

A large number of people, including District Nazim Haji Abdur Rauf, attended the funeral.

Strict security measures had been taken and Frontier Corps personnel and armymen patrolled the area.

On Tuesday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Masood Khan Afridi held a meeting with the district nazim and other officials at Circuit House to discuss the law and order situation.

Mr Afridi told the participants that the police were making all efforts to arrest those involved in Sunday’s attack.

He told journalists after the meeting that the situation was under control and investigation teams were looking at different angles of the incident.
