D.I. Khan firing claims 4 lives

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 24: Four people were killed and six injured critically when gunmen opened fire on people attending a funeral at the Hafiz Khair Ahmad graveyard here on Sunday.The shooting took place one hour after the funeral of Prof Nazakat Ali Imrani, chairman of the business administration department of the Gomal University, who was killed by some motorcycle riders on Saturday while getting off a bus.

The people attending his funeral were dispersing and another funeral was taking place when the gunmen started firing, killing Dr Kamran, Amanullah, Shahjehan and Mohammad Amin alias Naeem.

Four of the injured —Mohammad Imran, Abdur Rehman, Saleh Mohammed and Allah Bakhsh alias Baka Pattibun — were taken to the CMH in Dera Ismail Khan, and two others to the DHQ Hospital.

The district government has imposed Section 144 and police and FC personnel have started patrolling the area as the situation is tense. Two platoons of the army under the command of Major Zaheer and Major Imran have taken control of the city.
