Gang busted

KASUR, Dec 24: Police have arrested a robbers’ gang allegedly involved in robberies in Kasur and other cities and killing of a man on resistance.

The gang was allegedly being supported by a councillor, said Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Syed Ali Mohsin.

The SP told reporters on Sunday four robbers had shot dead Arif from Haveli Safaid Khan on resistance a few days ago and the police had arrested ring leader Sajad Maseh in an adjacent village.

During interrogation, Maseh said that his other accomplices had left for Karachi and at that time were near Sadiqabad. Suspecting the statement, police contacted a telecom operator that detected the cell phones of the accused and found them in Kasur. — Correspondent
