Youth killed, another hurt in accident

LAHORE, Dec 23: A youth was killed while another was injured critically when a water-tanker hit their motorcycle in the Batapur area on Saturday.

Police said Umar, 16, along with his friend Khurram Rameez, 15, both residents of Ghaziabad, were going on a motorcycle (LWA-2520) when a water-tanker (GTC-1363) hit them near Dayal village.

Umer died on the spot while Khurram sustained critical injuries.

The injured was first rushed to Ghurki Hospital and then he was referred to the Lahore General Hospital.

MURDER: A man shot dead his younger brother over a domestic issue in Kahna late on Friday night.

Police said brothers Mushtaq and Ramzan, 25, residents of Havaiali Chattar Khan, had a tractor-trolley business.

They exchanged arguments over some domestic issue late on Friday night but their father Abdul Rehman interfered and reconciled the matter.

But at around 12am, Mushtaq fired at Ramzan when he was asleep, resulted in his instant death.

ARRESTED: The CIA Model Town and Sadar division (Investigation) arrested seven members of two gangs of criminals involved in a number of incidents of dacoity, robbery, and street crimes here on Saturday.

During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to their involvement in 63 cases.

Police said two special teams, led by CIA SP Chaudhry Masood Aziz and SP (Investigation) Muhammad Umar Virk, collected information about the Nadeem and the Jani Changarh gangs.

Acting on information, the first team arrested five felons of the Nadeem gang. Around 22 cases were traced against the ringleader and his accomplices in city’s various police stations.

The second team apprehended two criminals of the Jani gang from an orchard near the Motorway.

The goons of this gang are history-sheeters and about 23 cases were traced against them in different police stations of the city. The police also recovered Rs100,000 in cash, 29 cell phones, a TV set, seven pistols and cartridges from their possession.

The arrested accused were identified as Nadeem, Shahid, Farman Ali, Ishfaque, Hasan Dildar, Jani alias Changarh and Sabir alias Cheena. —Reporter
