ISLAMABAD, Dec 20: Crown Prince of Bahrain Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa has said that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is interested in using nuclear technology purely for civilian purposes and is deadly against nuclear proliferation.

Shaikh Salman was speaking at a joint news conference with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here on Wednesday.

He made it clear that there was no link between the GCC desire to attain nuclear energy and Iran’s offer, and said: "We sincerely advise Iran to refrain from involving itself in the arms race and to be limited to peaceful use of nuclear power.”

Shaikh Salman called upon the international community to handle Iran’s issue with care and resolve it peacefully.

Earlier, the two leaders witnessed the signing of two MoUs involving the foreign ministries of the two countries and cooperation for social development.
