MULTAN, Dec 18: President Pervez Musharraf on Monday reiterated that those killed in Bajaur were terrorists and those describing them as innocent were liars. Addressing a big gathering in Khanewal, President Musharraf said he had himself watched "Bajaur militants getting training in suicide attacks."

He urged the people to reject those who were pushing the country towards terrorism and fundamentalism.

"Coming general elections are very important. If you want to see Pakistan to prosper and if you want to strengthen democracy, you should elect those who support me," the president added.

He said that the government had passed the Women Protection Bill to provide justice to women and those opposing it were not aware of the spirit of Islam.

The president said that Kalabagh dam would be built and completed by 2015. "All projects, including under-execution Bhasha dam and others like Mirani, Subakzai and Munda dams, will be pursued seriously," he said, adding that Bhasha dam would generate 4,000 megawatt power, besides making available a large quantity of water to meet farm needs.

He said that a project of raising the height of Mangla dam by 30 feet would be completed next year, which would ensure availability of 30maf additional water for irrigation.

According to APP, Mr Musharraf said that Pakistan had earned a respectable standing in the international community and the Muslim ummah and western countries were offering support to ensure that "our journey to prosperity and development continues unhindered."

He said that the government was spending a huge amount for improving roads and railway track infrastructure in the country.
