Bannu DIG, driver shot dead

PESHAWAR, Dec 18: DIG Police Bannu Abid Ali was shot dead, along with his driver, near here on Monday night. According to a security official, the DIG was on his way to Peshawar. When the car he was travelling in reached Matani in Peshawar district around 11:45pm, unidentified gunmen fired a volley of bullets at it. As a result, the DIG and his driver died on the spot.

“The incident looks like targeted killing,” said the official.

Before being promoted as DIG, Mr Ali had served as SSP Kohat and SSP Peshawar.
