PESHAWAR, Dec 17: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) on Sunday condemned the killing of two Pakhtuns during a strike called by the Pakhtun action committee in support of their demands in Karachi.In a statement issued here, the PMAP also criticised the authorities for using heavy force, injuring dozens and arresting several workers protesting against the demolition of their dwelling areas in Karachi.
“It was their right to protest in support of their demands. The use of force and killing of Pakhtuns were a barbaric act,” it remarked.
The PMAP said that Pakhtuns had done a lot in the development of Karachi, but they had been deprived of their political, democratic and social rights, adding that now their houses were being demolished.
It called upon the Sindh government to stop atrocities against Pakhtuns and compensate those killed and injured in the strike.
NO DEAL: PPP central vice-president Masood Sharif Khan Khattak on Saturday denied any deal with the establishment but said there was no harm in contacts between the two sides.
He said that with the elections now a year away, PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was under no pressure to strike a deal with the establishment to return to the country. "This is all propaganda," he added.
