KHAIRPUR, Dec 16: A private force has been raised in the kutcha area of the district after notorious bandit Nazroo’ Narejo’s recent threat to attack Kharalabad, native town of People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA Naeem Kharal.

Reports reaching here said that the Kharals and allied communities held a meeting in Kharalabad to evolve a strategy to face the threat. The participants decided to raise a private force, to be headed by Khadim Kharal, to counter the potential attack.

Nazroo' threat to attack the town in the wake of the torching of one his gang’s hideouts in the kutcha area has stirred the fear of revival of Kharal-Narejo bloody feud. The hideout is believed to have been burnt by some Narejos from Larkana district but, according to sources, Nazroo has been told that the raiding Narejos might have stayed with the Kharals.

The Kharal and Narejo communities had been at loggerheads over a land dispute in 1970s. The rivalry had claimed at least 20 lives, including that of leading Sindhi short story writer Naseem Kharal.

However, the conflict had been resolved by one of the largest jirgas in the history of 20th century Sindh, presided over by last of the classical waderas Shahnawaz Junejo.
