KARACHI, Dec 13: Midfielder Nomi Martin’s strike in the dying moments helped Pakistan Navy record a 2-1 win over the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in a third Pakistan Premier League football match here on Wednesday at the Naval Sports Complex Ground, Karsaz.

The first half ended with 0-0 score-line while the Navy dominated the second session and went ahead in the 56th minute through Jabbar Hussain.

The KPT went all out in quest of the equaliser and they restored parity through Abdul Rehman’s 85th minute goal. The match winner arrived in the closing seconds when Nomi fired the ball in, leaving KPT’s defence stranded.

In other match, two-time national champions Pakistan Army and Wapda secured one point apiece in a goalless tie at the Army Sports Complex, Rawalpindi.

Seasoned goal-keeper, Jaffar Khan once again showed his brilliance under the bar and denied Wapda strikers any goal.

Holders Army led the table with 22 points after eight matches while Wapda, five-time winners of the national championship, are at the second spot with 19 points and a game in hand.

Thursday’s fixtures: KRL v Wohaib FC (KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi, 2pm); NBP v Navy (Peoples Stadium, Karachi, 1:15pm); KPT v KESC (Peoples Stadium, Karachi, 3:15pm). --PPI
