SAHIWAL, Dec 13: Anti-Corruption Establishment Special Judge Javed Rashid Mahboobi on Wednesday awarded two-year rigorous imprisonment to a patwari for receiving illegal gratification of Rs3,300.

Tariq Mumtaz had on May 16, 2003 received bribe from Afzal, a farmer of Chak 81/5-R, for the correction of land record. The ACE had arrested the accused who, however, obtained bail.

After the court verdict, the police arrested Tariq and consigned him to the central jail.

Meanwhile, the court cancelled the pre-arrest bail of a patwari, Shaukat Ali, who too was involved in the case of receiving illegal gratification. Shaukat Ali had allegedly received Rs25,000 from farmer Abdul Ghaffar.
