SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 10: An employee of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) was killed and his colleague injured by robbers near Kala Shah Kaku toll plaza on motorway, some 40 kilometers from here on Sunday.

Reports said four highwaymen, after snatching cash and valuables from a bank employee of Lahore, Mustneez, were on their way to Sheikhupura by a car on motorway, when the FWO security men deployed on the toll plaza signaled them to halt.

The criminals, instead, opened fire on the FWO employees, killing Manzoor, and injuring Nasim Raza.

As other security men retaliated, a robber received critical injuries and was nabbed along with his three other accomplices while trying to escape.

The arrested robbers are identified as Waqas, Shahid, Yasir Abbas and Asif, belonging to Gujranwala, and Lahore. The motorway police recovered rifles, five pistols and a large number of cartridges from their possession.

Motorway SSP Jahanzeb, at a media briefing said the outlaws were hardened criminals involved in dozens of crimes committed on motorway and other roads.
