Rice dealer robbed of Rs5.2m

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 9: Two motorcyclists on Saturday deprived a rice dealer of Rs5.2 million and injured him critically near Misson Kalar on Lahore Road, some 18km away from here.

Reports said Saadat Ali was on his way to his mills after drawing the cash from National Bank, Shahdara branch. Near Misson Kalar, two robbers signalled him to stop his Pajero jeep. The accused opened fire when the rice dealer did not stop the vehicle. The bandits took away the amount, injuring him critically.

Saadat Ali is a close relative of MNA Saeed Virk and DSP Umer Virk. Some time back, the house of Mr Saadat was also looted in Sheikhupura civil lines area.

In another incident, three dacoits made off with cash and valuables from Hakim Safdar Husain near Jharan Mandi.

Safdar Husain was on his way to Jharan Mandi by a car when the bandits wearing police uniform stopped him near Hiran Minar, and boarded in his vehicle. Near Jharan Mandi, the robbers took away Rs5,000, a cell phone and other valuables.

WALK: A walk was held here in the city on Saturday in connection with the World Anti-Corruption Day. CM’s adviser Abid Chatta, and the district police officer led the walk.
