Police pick up rape victim and father

DADU, Dec 7: The Rukhan police picked up a rape victim Memona Kausar 22, along with her father and brother on Thursday when they were going to file an application against two influential men in the court of the district and sessions judge, Dadu.

Brother of the victim girl, Asif Awan, told newsmen that seven days ago, two influential men, Latif and Sarwar, resident of Sita Road, criminally assaulted her sister. He said that she went to Rukkan police station for registration of the case but the police refused. Memona, her father Hussain Awan and brother, Shabir, were going to the court to lodge the complaint but they were picked up by the Rukkan police.

He said that police were putting pressure on them to withdraw their application. He said that they were detained at an unknown place. He sought intervention of the senior police officials in the matter.—BoC
