HYDERABAD, Dec 3: Leader of Jamaat-i-Islami’s women wing and MNA Mrs. Aisha Munawar claimed on Sunday that religious scholars of all the schools of thought and an overwhelming majority of Pakistani women have rejected the amendments to Hudood laws.

She said while addressing a large gathering at Al-Noor Palace in Latifabad on Saturday that the new law was repugnant to Quran and Sunnah and warned that no one would be allowed to tamper with Quranic injunctions as the country came into being in the name of Islam.

She said that thousands of Muslims had sacrificed their lives for the country and majority of Pakistanis wanted to see Islamic laws enforced in their country.

But the anti-Islamic forces were bent on imposing a secular order on the country. The government had changed the syllabus under American pressure and was making attempts to eliminate Islamic values, she charged.

The so-called Women’s Protection Bill was a step in this direction, she said adding that the bill had restricted police from raiding prostitution dens.

Mrs. Munawar said that MMA legislators would resign from the assemblies en masse but its modalities would be decided in the forthcoming meeting of MMA’s parliamentary committee.

INTERNATIONAL DAY: Non-profit organisations for the rehabilitation of disabled and non-governmental organisations working for the welfare special people observed international day for the disabled in many districts of the province on Sunday.
