LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 2: Irrigation tubewells were powered up in Abakhel and Zeran villages here on Saturday. The power supply was connected by District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan.

The tube wells have been installed by the Barani Area Development Project (BADP) in partnership with the local community, while the district government is supplying the electricity to the schemes.

Executive District Officer (Agriculture) Tasleem Khan and district PML’s president Haji Muhammad Aslam Khan attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Saifullah reiterated the district government’s resolve to enhace the agriculture sector’s performance. “The BADP has launched a number of development schemes in agriculture, livestock, forestry, communication and other sectors in the district during the past couple of years,” he said.

He thanked President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for releasing funds to launch the work on the Kurrum Tangi dam.
