Rally held for jobs at Lasmo

DADU, Feb 16: A large number of citizens and political and social activists staged a demonstration in front of Bhan Saeedabad press club on Saturday to protest against Lasmo for not providing jobs to local people at its Bhit Jabal project.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners and raising slogans against the administration of the multinational oil and gas exploration company.

Speaking to the demonstrators, the leaders of different organizations deplored that Lasmo was refusing to recruit local people at its Bhit Jabal project, rather it had appointed hundreds of people from other provinces.

They alleged that some Lasmo officials with the help of some local landlords had got registered fake cases against the activists demanding jobs for local people at Lasmo.

Later, the protesters also observed token hunger strike in front of the press club.

SUICIDE: A youth, Riaz Hussain, 17, committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol over some domestic problem in Mehar on Saturday.

ACCIDENT: A driver of a Karachi bound truck (1023-HE), Mohammad Hassan Baloch, was killed and his cleaner Jawed injured when their truck overturned and fell into a ditch on Super Highway near Nooriabad on Saturday.

LOOTED: Two armed men blocked Kotri-Choudhry Karamuddin village road and looted Rs40,000 cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from two traders, Ali and Akhtar, on Saturday.

Both the traders were going to their village Choudhry Karamuddin from Kotri.

HIJACKED: Three unidentified armed men snatched a car (AAJ-965) from Khurram Qureshi, a student of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, in front of the main gate of the university on Saturday.

The Jamshoro police have registered an FIR.
