PESHAWAR, Nov 30: A division bench of the Peshawar High Court on Thursday issued contempt notice to Secretary Local Government, NWFP, for not complying with the orders of the court regarding finalisation of the promotion case of Jan Ali (BPS:20) as Director General of the City Development and Municipal Department (CD&MD) within a month.

The bench comprising Justice Qaim Jan Khan and Justice Ejaz Afzal issued the contempt notice to secretary local government on a contempt petition filed by Jan Ali, Project Director Kohat Development Authority (KDA).

Earlier the court, headed by Justice Muhammad Qaim Jan Khan and Justice Fazlur Rehman Khan, in its verdict while dismissing the petition on September 20, had directed the respondents to finalize the promotion case of Jan Ali, working as project director of Kohat Development Authority (KDA) in one month.

After no relief by the concerned quarter in the stipulated period granted by the PHC, the applicant Jan Ali again filed a contempt petition in the court seeking implementation on the court order.

The court in its fresh order has summoned secretary of the local government, NWFP, for December 6, to appear before the court and clarify his position.

Project director of KDA Jan Ali was promoted by the Provincial Selection Board to BPS:20 as director-general DMD on Feb 23.

A proper notification was issued by the NWFP government through the secretary of local government appointing him as Director General CDMD against the existing post with immediate effect.—APP
