Atif slams decider in extra chukker

LAHORE, Nov 28: Four goals by Atif Tiwana including the match-winner in the extra fifth chukker helped Garden Gas beat Karachi in the Toyo Nasic Polo Cup on Tuesday.

Garden Gas led 2-1 in the first chukker as Jalal Haider Agha scored back-to-back goals. Abdul Haseeb Mehta, who scored three for the losers opened his account.

The winners upheld their one-goal lead in the second chucker as both sides scored twice.

Garden Gas scored through Zeeshan Asaf while Atif struck his first converting a spot penalty near the goalpost. Karachi retaliated through Kashif Jamal and Aamir Cheema to reduce the lead to 4-3.

Karachi staged a gallant comeback in the third chukker scoring three goals in a row to earn 6-4 lead with Haseeb scoring two and Syed Mohammad Raza one.

In the fouth chukker Garden Gas managed to make it 7-7. Atif scored two while Mohsin Ata Kan Khosa one. Raza banged home for the losers, before Atif scored the winner in the fifth chukker on a field attempt to seal the fate of the match.
