Boli Mela concludes

OKARA, Nov 28: The five-day Punjab LOK Boli Mela concluded at Googera on Tuesday The special event of the day was the participation of Gobindar Singh, the coordinator of International Punjabi Conference, who came to attend the mela from Canada.

On the occasion, he lauded the organisers’ efforts for revival of Punjabi language and culture.

He said in India such events were held more frequently, offering his all-out support for the activity.

He said that during his earlier visit to Pakistan, he had participated in the urs of Baba Farid Gunj Shakar at Pakpattan.

The Interactive Resource Centre, Lahore, staged a play “CHANAN” on education issues, while Punjab Lok Rahas, with the cooperation of a private university, presented a play, “Hond un Hond” to highlight suppression of women under feudal system.

The local people lauded the NGOs for holding the mela and eulogising the role of Ahmad Khan Kharl, who is considered a symbol of resistance against foreign oppression.
