Robbers injure watchman

LAHORE, Nov 28: Two robbers injured the watchman of a retired major general in Green Town area on Tuesday and escaped without looting anything.

Reports said two masked robbers were trying to break into Maj-Gen (retired) Shafiq’s dera situated at a kiln in Bagrian when his watchman, Hawaldar (retired) Ghulam Habib, raised an alarm. The intruders opened fire on Habib and escaped. Habib was rushed to the Jinnah Hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.

Impounded: Traffic police has impounded 16 wagons being operated without route permits.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, SSP Traffic Wasim Ahmad Khan said after receiving a complaint that inter-city wagons were being run to Gujranwala and other cities from an illegal stand set up at the Minar-i-Pakistan Chowk, a grand operation was launched on Monday and some 16 wagons impounded.
