By-poll in Bajaur agency on Jan 10

KHAAR, Nov 27: The Election Commission has notified the schedule of by-election in NA-44, Bajaur Agency, official sources said here on Monday. The polling will be held on Jan 10, 2007.

According to the schedule, candidates will file nominations on Dec 4 and 5, while scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on Dec 6.

Objections would be accepted till Dec 14 and appeals against rejection of papers would be filed on Dec 20. Nominations can be withdrawn on Dec 21, while the Election Commission would issue the final list of candidates with their election symbols on Dec 22.

The assistant political agent of Khaar, Bajaur agency headquarters, would be the returning officer, while political tehsildar of Khaar would be the assistant returning officer.

The seat, NA-44, had fallen vacant after former member of National Assembly Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid had tendered resignation to protest the bombing of a madressah in the tribal agency on Oct 30.
