HYDERABAD, Nov 25: Police on Saturday uprooted tents and stage erected in connection with “Taleem Bachao Conference” in the ground of the Sindh Agriculture University in Tandojam.

The conference was organised by the Islami Jamiat-i-Talba.

Thousands of students were present in the university for attending the conference.

Some hot words were also exchanged between police and IJT leaders.

As a result, the IJT students held the conference in the ground which was attended by MMA and IJT leaders.

A procession was also taken out from Tandojam which culminated in the city.

MNA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, MPAs Rehman Rajput, Nasrullah Shajee, Younus Barai, IJT Nazim Nasrullah Goraya and Haris Masood led the protesters.

They marched on the main roads from Hirabad to the Station road.

The IJT nazim said that students would not let the government to change the syllabus under American influence.

He said that the government was trying to change the Islamic teachings which would not be allowed at any cost.

He accused the government of trying to introduce secular-based education system in the country and students would resist it tooth and nail on roads.

He said that the movement had been launched and rallies would be organised in the country.

He demanded that the Aga Khan Education Board should be abolished and the Protection of Women’s Rights (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill be withdrawn.

He said that copy culture should be brought to an end and fees should also be rationalised.

He demanded that students union should be restored.

MNA Asadullah Bhutto said that the US had given four tasks to President Musharraf for accomplishment.

He said that the tasks included changes in the educational system, repeal of Hudood and blasphemy laws and deletion of Islamic clauses and declaring ‘Qadiyanis’ non-Muslim minority.

He said that the passage of the controversial bill was a prelude to the tasks.

He said that the MMA had decided to wage a decisive struggle against the government and after tendering resignations in parliament, the MMA would not allow holding of by-elections.

Nasrullah Shajee said that Pakistan was founded on the basis of ideology of Islam which was being destroyed by the government and students had always given tremendous sacrifices for protecting Islamic identity of the country.
