Football team to be honoured

LAHORE, Nov 24: The Pakistan football team will be honoured on Saturday with cash prizes for winning gold medal in the last South Asian Games held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in August this year.

President Pakistan Football Federation, Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, will award Rs 150,000 each to all 20 players and four officials of the winning squad.

The prize ceremony will be held at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

The four officials are: Muhammad Irfan Khan Niazi (Manager), Salman Ahmed Sharida (Coach), Tariq Ibrahim (Assistant Coach) and Muhammad Afzal (Goal-keeping Coach).

Players:

Goal Keepers: Mahmood Ahmed (Faisalabad) and Muhammad Shahzad (Karachi).

Defenders: Naveed Akram (Multan), Muhammad Irfan (Kohat), Yasir Sabir (Islamabad), Samar Ishaq (Faisalabad) and Muhammad Imran (Faisalabad).

Midfielders: Adeel Ahmed (Nowshera), Mubashar Hussain (Bhakkar), Abdul Aziz (Karachi), Abbas Ali (Quetta), Muhammad Shahid (Bhawalpur) and Saeed Ahmed (Quetta).

Strikers: Zahid Hameed (Quetta), Shahid Ahmed (Quetta), Muhammad Essa (Chaman), Shakir Lashari (Karachi), Nasrullah Khan (Quetta), Muhammad Rasool (Chitral) and Muhammad Qasim (Islamabad).

Meanwhile, Pakistan Inter-board football championship starts at Railway Stadium, from Dec 5. All the Boards are allowed to take part in the competition.
