LAHORE, Nov 23: A local court has sentenced a man to 15 years’ imprisonment for luring an under-age girl into marriage.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sarwar Saleemullah found Zulfikar Ali guilty of marrying 12-year-old Kaneez Fatima and convicted him under Hudood laws.

Ali had married his neighbour in March last year. Opposed to the union, girl’s parents got a case registered against him, stating that he had enticed the girl who was “too young to decide her future”.

The judge declared the marriage illegal and remanded Ali to judicial custody to serve the sentence.
