Woman lecturer shot at, injured

GUJRANWALA, Nov 22: A woman lecturer of Quaid-i-Azam Divisional Public College was shot at and injured by unidentified assailants here on Wednesday.

Reports said that Ms Nahid Nawaz was on way to her quarter from the classroom when she was fired upon.

She was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

SUO MOTO: The Lahore High Court in a suo moto notice banned almost all public prosecutors to participate in the bar elections for being government employees on Wednesday.

Reports said that public prosecutors wanted to take part in bar elections to be held in January next year. It was stated that the issue was under consideration in the Punjab Bar Council.

DIRECTION: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Wednesday ordered deleting of an anti-terrorist act from an FIR registered against the son and nephew of the Sialkot district nazim for beating an army officer.

Reports said that Muradpur police (Sialkot) had registered the case against Imran Cheema and Suleman Cheema for thrashing Maj Nazir.

Giving his findings, public prosecutor Amjad Cheema said that the anti-terrorism act could not be added to the FIR.

Accepting his plea, the court directed that the case be sent to the area magistrate.
