GILGIT, Nov 18: The government is spending a huge amount on education sector to increase rate of literacy in six districts of the Northern Areas. Official sources said that Rs594 million would be spent on various projects to provide all required facilities in the education sector in the Northern Areas.

Giving details, sources said that the projects included establishment of colleges for boys and girls, higher secondary schools, high schools, middle schools and primary schools in the Northern Areas.

The sources added that some projects were in progress and remaining would be completed within the stipulated time.—APP
