KARACHI, Nov 15: Provincial secretary general of the All-Pakistan Minorities Alliance Michael Javed has expressed deep anguish and dismay over the adoption of Hisba Bill by the NWFP Assembly and said the decision would further relegate Pakistan as a radical Islamic society.

In a statement, he said by pushing through this bill the movers had become instrumental in encouraging Talibanization of the society and religious extremism. He was of the view that the NWFP government was using it to advance its narrow political agenda and not for the glory of Islam.

Mr Javed was of the view that Hasba Bill was not only illegal and unconstitutional but also tantamount to religious martial law through which political rivals would be targeted.

He called upon the federal government to use its constitutional right for preventing the NWFP government from implementing the assembly’s decision.
