KARACHI: PTCL seeks compensation

KARACHI, Nov 14: The PTCL asked for compensation from the civic agencies responsible for damaging underground fixed phone line network.

Quoting the General Manager STR-II Qazi Qadaruddin, PTCL spokesman said that various civic agencies and utilities, including city government, KESC, KWSB, SITE, and others damaged PTCL cable network during digging work for development.

The PTCL suffered Rs15.9 million loss as it had rectified the damaged cables and removed almost 10,000 faults caused during the development work in SITE, Landhi, Korangi, Garden, Lines Area, and Clifton, he said adding that 10,000 phone lines went out of order as the optical fibre network was also damaged.

He said most of the lines were restored while the work was in process to restore the remaining lines. — Staff Reporter
