Boy killed in firing at wedding

RAWALPINDI, Nov 12: An act of jubilation claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy, turning a wedding function in Waris Khan area into a mourning site here on Sunday.

The local police said Usman Butt, a class-VII student, was attending a wedding in a marriage hall when one of the guests - Tahir - started firing in jubilation.

One of the bullets hit Usman, injuring him critically. The boy was shifted to the ‘‘District Headquarters hospital Rawalpindi where he died.

The police have taken into custody the accused as well as the owner of the marriage hall.

JAPANESE BUSINESSMAN INJURED: A Japanese businessman was critically hurt in a road accident in the federal capital on Sunday.

According to the police, the Japanese national - Yoko Ho - suffered multiple injuries when his car collided with another vehicle (IDN-2044) while avoiding a motorcyclist on Nazimuddin Road in Sector F-8/4.

Mr Ho and the other car driver identified as Mr Zaheer were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).—Staff Reporter
