NAWABSHAH, Nov 12: A total of 2,054 students appeared in a test for admission to different faculties of engineering, science and technology in the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) on Sunday.
Mohammad Ali Jinnah University of Karachi Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Wahab conducted the test while Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof A. B. Soomro supervised the arrangements.
QUEST Vice-Chancellor Prof A. A. Junejo said that the university had received 2,136 forms, rejected eight for different reasons and issued admission cards to 2,128 out of whom 103 candidates did not appear in the test.
He said that the university offered 83 seats in civil, 70 in computer system, 104 in electrical, 85 in mechanical, 62 in electronics, 51 in energy environment, 62 in BS (IT), 70 in BS (CS) and 50 in BS (Maths).
The university had deployed heavy contingent of rangers and police in and around the university premises to avert any untoward incident.
GROWERS’ PROBLEMS: Additional Secretary of Irrigation Abdul Razzaq Qureshi visited Dhoro Naro and Chotko minors on Sunday and met with the growers who had staged rallies against the shortage of water a couple of days ago.
The secretary accompanied by XEN Nusrat Irrigation Division Haji Khan Jamali and other irrigation officials met with Khan Zardari, Rub Nawaz Khaskheli, Fazal Rind and Chaudhry Ahsan and formed an eight-member committee headed by Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf Khan to solve of the growers’ problems.
He assured the growers that their problems would be solved and they would be provided water.
