KARACHI: Journalists slam arrest

KARACHI, Nov 11: A general body meeting of the South Asia Free Media Association, Sindh chapter, on Saturday condemned the illegal arrest and detention of Meherdin Murree, a journalist in the interior of Sindh. Mr Muree was set free by agencies after a protest by journalists.

The general body meeting elected Mahmood Aamer as president and Sabihuddin Ghausi as secretary of Sindh SAFMA. The other office-bearers elected by the general body are: Zahida Hina, senior vice president and Rehana Hakim, vice president (Karachi); and Ibal Mallah, vice president (Hyderabad). Faisal Aziz Khan was elected joint secretary (Karachi) and Mahesh Kumar (Hyderabad). Ghulam Nabi Chandio was elected finance secretary.
