NEW DELHI, Nov 10: The foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan starting here next week may not discuss any evidence in the Mumbai train blasts because the city police have still not filed a chargesheet, the Indian Express said on Friday.
It said the Indian foreign ministry was "waiting anxiously for Mumbai police to act ahead of the Nov 14-15 talks". However, the newspaper said there may be a legal question in taking up the matter with Pakistan without placing the evidence first before the court.
"There is fear that the MCOCA (anti-terror) court could later take exception to any sharing of evidence with another country before a formal chargesheet is made out," the report said quoting sources.
Officials from India's home ministry and the foreign ministry are in touch with each other over the issue as the setting up of theanti-terror mechanism agreed on in Havana is one of the principal objectives of the secretary-level talks this time.
