HYDERABAD, Nov 9: German ambassador Dr Gunter Mulack has stressed the need for increasing trade, education and cultural relations between Pakistan and Germany and said that his country desired to give a boost to such relations.

The ambassador was speaking during a meeting with Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil at the circuit house here on Wednesday.

District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput, MNA Pervez Qureshi, DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed, EDO Revenue Abdul Sattar Jatoo and the representatives of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also present on the occasion.

The German ambassador said that Hyderabad was a historical city and it was more developed even than Karachi when the latter used to be only a small town. He said the city of Hyderabad has always remained famous for its canal system, climate and unique location.

Pakistani students were studying in technical institutes of his country while the others were doing their PhDs.

District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil briefed the ambassador about the massive ongoing development schemes in Hyderabad and added that German machinery was being successfully used in the development schemes.

He, however, stressed the need for use of heavy machinery and suggested that reconditioned machinery with reasonable guarantee and availability of spare parts could be imported from Germany.

The ambassador held out an assurance that he will immediately get in touch with manufacturers to arrange the supply of required machinery.

Kanwar Naveed invited German investors to set up a garbage recycling plant in Hyderabad. He said the establishment of a branch of the German educational institution in Hyderabad will be welcomed.

The German ambassador was greatly impressed with the quality of bangles, furniture and handicrafts and invited a delegation of traders from Hyderabad to visit his country.
