PESHAWAR, Nov 9: The Jamaat-i-Islami has not been able to take a decision yet about its a candidate for the post of senior minister in the NWFP cabinet after the resignation of Sirajul Haq who quit the cabinet on Oct 30, party sources said.

They said party leaders were finding it hard to fill the senior minister's post after media reports that Mr Haq had resigned in protest against the bombing of a seminary in Bajaur on Oct 30.

Provincial minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai told Dawn it was up to the JI to propose replacement for Mr Haq in the cabinet.

The party sources said the minister’s resignation had put the party in an awkward position and leaders were reluctant to nominate a candidate to replace Mr Haq.

"Mr Siraj's resignation had coincided with the bombing of the seminary. It had nothing to do with the bombing," said a senior member of the party.—Bureau Report
