Gascoigne arrested in assault probe

LONDON, Nov 8: Former England international Paul Gascoigne has been arrested in London on suspicion of assault, police sources said on Wednesday.

“Police were called at approximately 3:40 a.m. this morning by a man who alleged that he had been assaulted by another man at a club in South Kensington,” Scotland Yard said in a statement.

“Following inquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested at a separate club nearby at approx 4:15 a.m. on suspicion of ABH (Actual Bodily Harm).”

Gascoigne, who played 57 times for England, has had several run-ins with the law since his football career went into decline in the late 1990s.—Reuters
