GUJRANWALA, Nov 8: The BA candidates smashed window panes of a bank branch and also pelted stones to protest against the black-marketing of admission forms here on Wednesday.
Reports said that the Punjab University had inducted HBL’s Bank Square branch for the distribution of admission forms to candidates. But a number of candidates could not get forms and in a rage they attacked the bank branch. However, the bank administration called out the police who dispersed the candidates.
The bank administration denied that forms were being black-marketed and alleged that candidates smashed the windowpanes for getting forms without their turn.
ARRESTED: Wahando police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested four robbers when they were selling paddy in Kamoki grain market.
Police said landlord Muhammad Arif of Wahanwala village was on way to Kamoki grain market to sell paddy by a tractor trolley. When he reached near Lallupur village, four bandits intercepted him. They tied his hands with ropes and drove away with paddy-laden trolley.
The victim somehow released himself and informed police which arrested them. They have been identified as Sadaqat, Ajmal, Ehsan and Mushtaq.
DEFAULTERS HELD: Two industrialist brothers were arrested on the order of banking court on the charge of default in payment of Rs8.6 million to bank on Wednesday.
Muhammad Siddiq and Muhammad Latif obtained loan from a bank branch for business a few years ago but could not return it in time.
The court had issued warrant for their arrest.
