CM fires MS, suspends EDO of health

Published November 8, 2006

SUKKUR, Nov 7: The Sindh chief minister on Tuesday sacked the medical superintendent of civil hospital Sukkur, Dr. Imtiaz Mughal, and suspended the EDO of health Dr. Hafeezur Rehman following growing complaints of people, sources in the health department said.

The sources said that the chief minister had appointed a chairman to run the hospital, redress public grievances and utilise funds.

A tussle going on between chairman Niaz Dahar, MS and EDO health for a couple of months resulted in the removal of the MS and suspension of the EDO, the sources said.

When contacted, Dr. Imtiaz Mughal confirmed the news of his removal and held the chairman, a retired judge of grade 18, who knew nothing about running a hospital responsible for the differences.

He said that he had tendered resignation some 15 days ago due to differences but it was not accepted. He said that he was working under a contract.—BoC
