LAHORE, Oct 18: Lahore district Nazim Amer Mahmood directed the departments under his administrative control on Thursday not to cite shortage of funds as an excuse for their failure to solve citizens’ problems.

He said they must explore alternative methods to provide relief to the people.

Addressing a meeting here, he said every department should redress public complaints on priority basis.

He asked the departments to send him a monthly performance report and suggestions for improvement.

He said district government officials enjoyed full legal cover in the performance of their duties and would be held accountable for their failures. He said corruption would be eradicated.

The departments responsible for providing civic amenities, he said, would have full backing of the district government.
