NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 6: More than 100 teachers, including women, working under the National Commission for Human Development, held a rally and observed a token hunger strike on Monday in protest against non-payment of three months’ salary.

Led by Abdul Rasheed, Ms Shahnaz Rajpar and Khan Arain, the teachers marched on different roads of the town before staging a sit-in at Allahwala Chowk. They observed a token hunger strike outside the press club for four hours.

They protesting teachers complained that the NCHD chief had deprived them of three months salaries and was not ready to release them their pay despite several meetings. They demanded an inquiry into the matter and action against officials responsible for the delay.

INJURED: Five people suffered serious injuries after a clash between transporters turned violent at Allahwala Chowk on Monday.

Reports reaching here said that Ali Hassan, Imam Bux, Ali Bux Khuda Bux and Khan Mohammad suffered injuries after a dispute over parking buses between transporters belonging to Mari and Tager communities turned violent. They were admitted to civil hospital.

Police lodged an FIR under sections 324, 337A-1, F1, H2, 427, 147, 148, 149, 427 and 504 PPC against Nawab Mari, Sohrab Mari, Sarwar Mari, Rab Nawaz, Mohammad Siddique, Ghulam Mohammad and seven unidentified people but had not made any arrest by the time the story was filed.

SNATCHED: Three armed men snatched a motorcycle and Rs20,000 from a trader, Mohammad Paryal, when he was going to Tharushah on Tharushah-Munith Road on Monday.

The traders said that one of the armed men had on police uniform.
