PESHAWAR, Nov 6: The Agency Councillors Alliance on Monday condemned the recent air strike on a Bajaur Agency madressah and the kidnapping of councillor Dilawar Khan Mohmand.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here, alliance president Amal Jan Mehsud urged the government to stop the “genocide” of tribesmen and inhuman attitude with them.

He said students of the madressah were being taught only the Holy Quran and Islamic education. He said no outsiders were studying in the madressah.

He said law and order situation in tribal areas had deteriorated after deployment of the army in Fata.

They said a team of the Peshawar High Court Bar had left for Bajaur Agency to investigate the incident, adding that the alliance would devise its future strategy after the lawyers’ team report.

Hashim Khan Afridi, Malik Gul Mohammad and other office-bearers of the alliance were also present.

About the kidnapping of councillor Dilawar Khan, they said the kidnappers demanded Rs10 million for his release. They said family members of the councillor were ready for talks in the presence of the political agent and jirga elders, but they would not pay the ransom.
