LARKANA: Transporters observe strike

LARKANA, Feb 15: The main bus terminal wore deserted look on Friday as the transports went on indefinite strike to press the authorities concerned to provide basic facilities at the bus stand.

The commuters faced hardship due to the strike for no bus, mini bus, wagon originating for Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Karachi, Hyderabad and to all sub-divisional headquarters of Larkana, came on the road.

President Chandka Bus owners Association Mohammed Umar Jalbani talking to Dawn on Friday night, said that the strike was observed to press the government for the early construction of by-pass road, a mosque and a park at the main bus terminal and provision of shops for the mechanics.

Despite bus owners associations’ claim, buses on the routes of Dokri, Bakrani, Arija, Mohenjodaro, were plying as usual and the auto rickshaw association did not pay any heed to the strike call and the Blue Lines coaches were also plying on Larkana-Hyderabad and Karachi route.

It was learnt that local administration on late Thursday night contacted the transporters urged them not to observe any strike but their efforts remained unproductive.

The Taluka management reportedly in consultation with transporters association conducted a complete survey of facilities at the main bus terminal, Sukkur, so as to provide the same at Larkana bus stand.

The report said that Larkana bus terminal had more facilities than Sukkur terminal did.

KARO KARI: A girl, Mandan Mughiri, 18, was shot dead in village Kandee, near Wagan, under on the pretext of Karo-Kari.

The killer, Shaman, was the cousin of the deceased and alleged that the girl was having illicit relations with Sadik Mughiri who had escaped the assault.

The killer later surrendered at the Wagan police station along with a gun used in the crime.

The police has registered an FIR against the killer under section 302 of the PPC.
